Proposals for improving access to Holywood (option 1)
An initial consultation was carried out with Amey and a few representatives from the village (there is no community council) to discuss options to improve active travel. One was to upgrade and widen the existing footway and move it away from the carriageway to make it suitable to be a shared use path.
Outcome: The route has not been initially selected to be taken to the next stage, the technical and detailed design stages, pending Lochside development plans

Active travel options for access to Holywood (option 2)
An initial consultation was carried out with Amey and a few representatives from the village (there is no community council) to discuss options to improve active travel. One was to use the existing dead end road as a route via Newbridge, and then lower speed limits on the A76 as it passed by the village to make it easier to cross.
Outcome: This was also not taken through to the next stage pending possible developments in Lochside.
