Progress tracker

Consultations come and go. Small changes seem to happen out of nowhere. Over the years it can be difficult to track what was agreed, funded and implemented. Let's celebrate the wins and keep a watchful eye on commitments until we see actual progress.

History of Activity

Decriminalisation of parking enforcement

Council Approval Lack of enforcement of pedestrianisation - Some Progress

Parking enforcement is due to be decriminalised meaning council traffic wardens rather than Police Scotland will be responsible for issuing penalty notices for illegal parking from 2026. As this will include those using pedestrianised streets such as the High St, Vennel and Bank Street to park, it will reduce the number of unauthorised vehicles in the town centre.

Outcome: Agreed.

Consultation Nith Place and Loreburn Centre entrance - Some Progress

Better Streets Scheme 2 proposed connecting English Street with the Whitesands via a segregated cycle track along Shakespeare Street. This would create a route to the High Street, avoiding the bus stops and complications of the Loreburn Centre entrance
